Bio
I have always been fascinated with the human figure. I love visual navigation of the shapes, contours, and gradations that make up the human expression. Being part of my subjects' fleeting, private moments during which they are purely introspective and unaffected by others is a special opportunity which I cherish. Once a subject's tranquility is shattered by the intrusion of a camera or crushed through the interaction with the world, the special moment is lost forever. I strive to capture people in these instants when they are unaware of the world around them in order to celebrate the purity of their individual spirit. My ultimate goal is to access these private, individual worlds that reveal the true spectrum of emotions and freedom of personality that make each subject unique.
My artwork has been influenced by the many people who have woven themselves into my life. As a young artist, I am constantly inspired by changing styles and visual applications. Both my ethnicity and my gender are articulated through the unspoken words of my artistic identity. While an intern at a contemporary art gallery in Shanghai, I explored the techniques of young Chinese artists and their language is embedded throughout my own expression. I treasure each of my pieces and my only wish is that you hear them whisper to you with the same spectrum of emotions with which they resonate to me.
